Al-Qamar (The Moon)
Translation
Verses 1-30
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ (1)
The hour has come near, and the moon has split.
[Al Quran ; 54:1]
وَإِنْ يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ (2)
And if they see a sign, they turn away and say: Continues magic.
[Al Quran ; 54:2]
وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُسْتَقِرٌّ (3)
And they denied and followed their desires. And for every matter will be a settlement.
[Al Quran ; 54:3]
وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ (4)
And there has certainly come to them information that in which there is deterrence.
[Al Quran ; 54:4]
حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ (5)
Wisdom reaching (them); but warnings do not avail.
[Al Quran ; 54:5]
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ (6)
So turn away from them. The day the caller will call (them) to something despised.
[Al Quran ; 54:6]
خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنْتَشِرٌ (7)
Humbled would be their visions. They will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading.

مُهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ (8)
Rushing toward the caller; the unbelievers will say: This is a difficult day.
[Al Quran ; 54:8]
كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ (9)
The people of Nuh denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said: Madman. And he was repelled.
[Al Quran ; 54:9]
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانْتَصِرْ (10)
So he called upon his Lord (saying): Indeed, I am overpowered, so help.
[Al Quran ; 54:10]
فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُنْهَمِرٍ (11)
So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring.
[Al Quran ; 54:11]
وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ (12)
And We caused the land to burst with springs, so the waters met according to a command that was decreed.
[Al Quran ; 54:12]
وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ (13)
And We carried him on that which has planks and nails.
[Al Quran ; 54:13]
تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِمَنْ كَانَ كُفِرَ (14)
Sailing under Our eyes; a reward for one who was denied.
[Al Quran ; 54:14]
وَلَقَدْ تَرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ (15)
And We have certainly left it as a sign; so is there anyone who will remember?
[Al Quran ; 54:15]
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (16)
And how were My torture and warning.
[Al Quran ; 54:16]
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ (17)
And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will remember?
[Al Quran ; 54:17]
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (18)
Aad denied; and how were My torture and warning.
[Al Quran ; 54:18]
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُسْتَمِرٍّ (19)
Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind in a day of misfortune which continued.
[Al Quran ; 54:19]
تَنْزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُنْقَعِرٍ (20)
Pulling the people as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees.
[Al Quran ; 54:20]
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (21)
And how were My torture and warning.
[Al Quran ; 54:21]
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ (22)
And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will remember?
[Al Quran ; 54:22]
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ (23)
Thamud denied the warning.
[Al Quran ; 54:23]
فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِنَّا وَاحِدًا نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ (24)
And they said: Is it one human from among us whom we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in misguidance and madness.
[Al Quran ; 54:24]
أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ (25)
Has the reminder been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar.
[Al Quran ; 54:25]
سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ (26)
They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar.
[Al Quran ; 54:26]
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ (27)
Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient.
[Al Quran ; 54:27]
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ (28)
And inform them that the water is shared between them, each drink attended (by each).
[Al Quran ; 54:28]
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ (29)
But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung (her).
[Al Quran ; 54:29]
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ (30
And how were My torture and warning.
[Al Quran ; 54:30]
