Al-Waqea (The Event)
Translation
Verses 49-96
قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ (49)
Say: Indeed, the former and the later (people).
[Al Quran ; 56:49]
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ (50)
Are to be gathered for a time of a known day.
[Al Quran ; 56:50]
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ (51)
Then indeed you, O misguided people, the deniers.
[Al Quran ; 56:51]
لَآكِلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقُّومٍ (52)
Are to be eating from trees of Zaqqum.
[Al Quran ; 56:52]
فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ (53)
And filling with it the bellies.
[Al Quran ; 56:53]
فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ (54)
And drinking on top of it from boiling water.
[Al Quran ; 56:54]
فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ (55)
And you will drink as the drinking of the camels.
[Al Quran ; 56:55]
هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (56)
This is their accommodation on the day of recompense.
[Al Quran ; 56:56]
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ (57)
We created you, so will you not believe?
[Al Quran ; 56:57]
أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تُمْنُونَ (58)
Have you seen that which you emit?
[Al Quran ; 56:58]
أَأَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ (59)
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creators?
[Al Quran ; 56:59]
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ (60)
We have ordained among you death, and We are not to be preceded.
[Al Quran ; 56:60]
عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ (61)
That We may change your likeness and establish you in that which you do not know.
[Al Quran ; 56:61]
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ (62)
And you have certainly known the first establishment, so will you not remember?
[Al Quran ; 56:62]
أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ (63)
Have you seen that which you sow?
[Al Quran ; 56:63]
أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ (64)
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the Growers?
[Al Quran ; 56:64]
لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ (65)
If We willed, We could make it debris, and you would remain in wonder.
[Al Quran ; 56:65]
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ (66)
(Saying:) Indeed, we are in debt.
[Al Quran ; 56:66]
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ (67)
Rather, we are deprived.
[Al Quran ; 56:67]
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ (68)
Have you seen the water which you drink?
[Al Quran ; 56:68]
أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ (69)
Is it you who sent it down from the clouds, or are We Who send it down?
[Al Quran ; 56:69]
لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ (70)
If We willed, We could make it salty, so why are you not grateful?
[Al Quran ; 56:70]
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ (71)
Have you seen the fire which you ignite?
[Al Quran ; 56:71]
أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِئُونَ (72)
Is it you who established its tree, or are We the Establishers?
[Al Quran ; 56:72]
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِلْمُقْوِينَ (73)
We have made it a reminder and a provision for the travellers.
[Al Quran ; 56:73]
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ (74)
So glorify with the name of your Lord, the Great.
[Al Quran ; 56:74]
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ (75)
And I swear by the positions of the stars.
[Al Quran ; 56:75]
وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ (76)
And indeed, it is an oath, if you could know, great.
[Al Quran ; 56:76]
إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ (77)
Indeed, it is a noble Quran.
[Al Quran ; 56:77]
فِي كِتَابٍ مَكْنُونٍ (78)
In a well-kept book.
[Al Quran ; 56:78]
لَا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ (79)
None touch it except the purified.
[Al Quran ; 56:79]
تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (80)
Descended from the Lord of the worlds.
[Al Quran ; 56:80]
أَفَبِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنْتُمْ مُدْهِنُونَ (81)
So, is it concerning this saying (the Quran) that you are indifferent,
[Al Quran ; 56:81]
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ (82)
And make your provision that you deny (the Provider).
[Al Quran ; 56:82]
فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ (83)
And why when it (the soul) reaches the throat.
[Al Quran ; 56:83]
وَأَنْتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنْظُرُونَ (84)
And you are at that time looking on.
[Al Quran ; 56:84]
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ (85)
And We are closer to him than you, but you do not see.
[Al Quran ; 56:85]
فَلَوْلَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ (86)
So why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed.
[Al Quran ; 56:86]
تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (87)
Return it (the soul) back, if you should be truthful?
[Al Quran ; 56:87]
فَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ (88)
And if he was from those brought near (to Allah).
[Al Quran ; 56:88]
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ (89)
Then (for him are) rest and scent and a garden of pleasure.
[Al Quran ; 56:89]
وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (90)
And if he was from the companions of the right.
[Al Quran ; 56:90]
فَسَلَامٌ لَكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (91)
Then peace for you from the (other) companions of the right.
[Al Quran ; 56:91]
وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ (92)
And if he was from the deniers, the misguided.
[Al Quran ; 56:92]
فَنُزُلٌ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ (93)
Then (for him is) accommodation of boiling water.
[Al Quran ; 56:93]
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ (94)
And the reaching of hellfire.
[Al Quran ; 56:94]
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ (95)
Indeed, this is the true certainty.
[Al Quran ; 56:95]
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ (96)
So glorify with the name of your Lord, the Great.
