Translation
Verses 1-20
الم (1)
Alif Lam Meem.
[Al Quran ; 31:1]
تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْحَكِيمِ (2)
These are the signs of the wise book.
[Al Quran ; 31:2]
هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ (3)
Guidance and mercy for the doers of good.
[Al Quran ; 31:3]
الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ (4)
Those who establish prayer and give Zakah (Alms) and they are, of the hereafter, surely certain.
[Al Quran ; 31:4]
أُولَٰئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدًى مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ (5)
It is them who are on guidance from their Lord, and it is them who will be the successful.
[Al Quran ; 31:5]
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ (6)
And of the people is one who buys vain talk (hadith) to misguide (others) from the way of Allah without knowledge, and he takes it for a ridicule. It is them who will have a humiliating torture.
[Al Quran ; 31:6]
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ (7)
And when Our signs are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly, as if he did not hear it, as if there was in his ears deafness; so give him tidings of a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 31:7]
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ النَّعِيمِ (8)
Indeed, those who have believed and done good deeds, for them will be the gardens of pleasure.
[Al Quran ; 31:8]
خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقًّا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ (9)
Abiding therein; the promise of Allah in truth. And He is the Mighty, the Wise.
[Al Quran ; 31:9]
خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا ۖ وَأَلْقَىٰ فِي الْأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَنْ تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَبَثَّ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ ۚ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ (10)
He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth mountains, lest it might shift with you, and dispersed therein of every walking creature. And We sent down from the sky water and planted therein of every noble pair (of vegetation).
[Al Quran ; 31:10]
هَٰذَا خَلْقُ اللَّهِ فَأَرُونِي مَاذَا خَلَقَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ دُونِهِ ۚ بَلِ الظَّالِمُونَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ (11)
This is the creation of Allah, so show Me what those other than Him have created. Rather, the unjust are in obvious misguidance.
[Al Quran ; 31:11]
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا لُقْمَانَ الْحِكْمَةَ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِلَّهِ ۚ وَمَنْ يَشْكُرْ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ (12)
And We have certainly given Luqman wisdom, (saying): Be grateful to Allah. And whoever is grateful, he is only grateful to himself; and whoever disbelieves, then indeed, Allah is Rich, Praised.
[Al Quran ; 31:12]
وَإِذْ قَالَ لُقْمَانُ لِابْنِهِ وَهُوَ يَعِظُهُ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ (13)
And when Luqman said to his son while he was admonishing him: O my son! Do not associate (anything) with Allah; indeed, polytheism is a great injustice.
[Al Quran ; 31:13]
وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍ وَفِصَالُهُ فِي عَامَيْنِ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ (14)
And We have enjoined the human for his parents, (that) his mother carried him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning in two years, (saying): Be grateful to Me and to both your parents. To Me will be the (final) destination.
[Al Quran ; 31:14]
وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ تُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَا ۖ وَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفًا ۖ وَاتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ مَنْ أَنَابَ إِلَيَّ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (15)
And if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in this world in kindness and follow the way of those who turn to Me. Moreover, to Me is your return, then I will inform you of what you used to do.
[Al Quran ; 31:15]
يَا بُنَيَّ إِنَّهَا إِنْ تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ فَتَكُنْ فِي صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ أَوْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَطِيفٌ خَبِيرٌ (16)
O my son! Indeed, if it should be the weight of a mustard seed which may be in a rock, or in the heaven or in the earth, Allah will bring it; indeed, Allah is Subtle, Acquainted.
[Al Quran ; 31:16]
يَا بُنَيَّ أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَانْهَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا أَصَابَكَ ۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ (17)
O my son! Establish prayer and command what is the right and forbid what is evil and be patient over that which strikes you; indeed, that is of the toughest affairs.
[Al Quran ; 31:17]
وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ (18)
And do not turn your cheek to the people (in contempt) and do not walk in the land exultantly; indeed, Allah does not like everyone deluded and boastful.
[Al Quran ; 31:18]
وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ ۚ إِنَّ أَنْكَرَ الْأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ (19)
And be moderate in your walking pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most hated of voices is the voice of donkeys.
[Al Quran ; 31:19]
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُ ظَاهِرَةً وَبَاطِنَةً ۗ وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَا هُدًى وَلَا كِتَابٍ مُنِيرٍ (20)
Do you not see that Allah has subjected for you what is in the heavens and what is in the earth and bestowed upon you His favours which are apparent and unapparent? And of the people is one who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book.
