Al-Dukhan (The Smoke)
Translation
Verses 1-30
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
حم (1)
Ha Meem.
[Al Quran ; 44:1]
وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ (2)
And by the obvious book.
[Al Quran ; 44:2]
إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ (3)
Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night; indeed, We were to warn (you).
[Al Quran ; 44:3]
فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ (4)
Therein (on that night) is made distinct every precise matter.
[Al Quran ; 44:4]
أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ (5)
A matter from Us; indeed, We were to send (messengers).
[Al Quran ; 44:5]
رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ (6)
A mercy from your Lord; indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
[Al Quran ; 44:6]
رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ (7)
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be certain.
[Al Quran ; 44:7]
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ (8)
There is no god except Him; He gives life and causes death. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your former fathers.
[Al Quran ; 44:8]
بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ (9)
Rather they are in doubt, playing.
[Al Quran ; 44:9]
فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ (10)
So watch for a day when the sky will bring an obvious smoke.
[Al Quran ; 44:10]
يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (11)
It will cover the people; this is a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 44:11]
رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ (12)
Our Lord! Remove from us the torture; indeed, we are believers.
[Al Quran ; 44:12]
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ (13)
How will there be for them a reminder? And there came to them an obvious messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:13]
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ (14)
Moreover, they turned away from him and said: He was taught, (and he is) a madman
[Al Quran ; 44:14]
إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ (15)
Indeed, We will remove the torture a little. Indeed, you will return.
[Al Quran ; 44:15]
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ (16)
The day We will assault with a great assault; indeed, We are to take retribution.
[Al Quran ; 44:16]
وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ (17)
And We have certainly tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:17]
أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ (18)
(Saying), deliver to me the servants of Allah; indeed, I am to you an honest messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:18]
وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ (19)
(And saying), and be not arrogant with Allah; indeed, I come to you with an obvious authority.
[Al Quran ; 44:19]
وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ (20)
And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
[Al Quran ; 44:20]
وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ (21)
And if you do not believe me then leave me.
[Al Quran ; 44:21]
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ (22)
And he called upon his Lord that these were a criminal people.
[Al Quran ; 44:22]
فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ (23)
(Allah said): Then walk with my servants by night; indeed, you are to be pursued.
[Al Quran ; 44:23]
وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ (24)
And leave the sea divided; indeed, they are soldiers to be drowned.
[Al Quran ; 44:24]
كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (25)
How many they have left of gardens and springs.
[Al Quran ; 44:25]
وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ (26)
And vegetations and a noble position.
[Al Quran ; 44:26]
وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ (27)
And a favour wherein they were rejoicing.
[Al Quran ; 44:27]
كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ (28)
Thus; and We caused to inherit it another people.
[Al Quran ; 44:28]
فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ (29)
And the heaven and the earth did not cry for them, nor were they reprieved.
[Al Quran ; 44:29]
وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ (30
And We have certainly saved the children of Israel from the humiliating torture.
[Al Quran ; 44:30]
