Al-Sajdah (The Prostration)
Translation
Verses 1-20
بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
الم (1)
Alif lam Meem.
[Al Quran ; 32:1]
تَنْزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (2)
The descending of the book, about which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the Lords
[Al Quran ; 32:2]
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۚ بَلْ هُوَ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لِتُنْذِرَ قَوْمًا مَا أَتَاهُمْ مِنْ نَذِيرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ (3)
Or do they say: He has forged it? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you; perhaps they will be guided.
[Al Quran ; 32:3]
اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۖ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ (4)
Allah is He Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, and He established Himself upon the throne. There is none for you other than Him as Guardian or as Intercessor; so will you not remember?
[Al Quran ; 32:4]
يُدَبِّرُ الْأَمْرَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ مِمَّا تَعُدُّونَ (5)
He arranges the affair from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a day whose measure is a thousand years of what you count.
[Al Quran ; 32:5]
ذَٰلِكَ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (6)
That is the Knower of the unseen and testimony, the Mighty the Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 32:6]
الَّذِي أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ ۖ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ الْإِنْسَانِ مِنْ طِينٍ (7)
Who perfected everything that He has created, and He began the creation of human from clay.
[Al Quran ; 32:7]
ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُ مِنْ سُلَالَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ مَهِينٍ (8)
And He made his descendant out of an extract of infirm water.
[Al Quran ; 32:8]
ثُمَّ سَوَّاهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِهِ ۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَا تَشْكُرُونَ (9)
And He proportioned him and blew into him of His spirit. And He made for you hearing and visions and hearts; little are you grateful.
[Al Quran ; 32:9]
وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَإِنَّا لَفِي خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ بِلِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَافِرُونَ (10)
And they say: When we have become lost in the land, will we indeed be in a new creation? Rather they are, in the meeting of their Lord, unbelievers.
[Al Quran ; 32:10]
قُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُمْ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ (11)
Say: The angel of death will cause you to die who has been entrusted over you; moreover, to your Lord you will be returned.
[Al Quran ; 32:11]
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذِ الْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُو رُءُوسِهِمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَا أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَارْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا إِنَّا مُوقِنُونَ (12)
And if you could but see when the criminals will be turning down their heads before their Lord, (saying): Our Lord! We have seen and heard; so return us, we will do good deeds. Indeed, we are certain.
[Al Quran ; 32:12]
وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَآتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُدَاهَا وَلَٰكِنْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ مِنِّي لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ (13)
And if We had willed, We could have given to every soul its guidance, but the saying (preceded) from Me will be true: I will surely fill hell with the jinn and the people all together.
[Al Quran ; 32:13]
فَذُوقُوا بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَا إِنَّا نَسِينَاكُمْ ۖ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (14)
So taste because you forgot the meeting of this day of yours; indeed, We have forgotten you. And taste the torture of eternity for what you used to do.
[Al Quran ; 32:14]
إِنَّمَا يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهَا خَرُّوا سُجَّدًا وَسَبَّحُوا بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ (15)
Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded of them, they fall down in prostration and glorify with the praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
[Al Quran ; 32:15]
تَتَجَافَىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ (16)
Their sides part from beds, they supplicate their Lord in fear and in aspiration, and of what We have provided them, they spend.
[Al Quran ; 32:16]
فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِنْ قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ (17)
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of pleasure for the eyes; a reward for what they used to do.
[Al Quran ; 32:17]
أَفَمَنْ كَانَ مُؤْمِنًا كَمَنْ كَانَ فَاسِقًا ۚ لَا يَسْتَوُونَ (18)
Then, is one who is believer like one who is disobedient? They are not equal.
[Al Quran ; 32:18]
أَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْمَأْوَىٰ نُزُلًا بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ (19)
As for those who have believed and done good deeds, then for them will be the gardens of refuge; descended (for them) for what they used to do.
[Al Quran ; 32:19]
وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا فَمَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ ۖ كُلَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا أُعِيدُوا فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ (20)
And as for those who have disobeyed, then their refuge will be the fire; whenever they want to exit from it, they will be returned into it while it will be said to them: Taste the torture of the fire which you used to deny.
