Al-Tur (Mount Tur)

Translation

Verses 1-30

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

وَالطُّورِ (1)

By mount Tur.
[Al Quran ; 52:1]

وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ (2)

And (by) an inscribed book.
[Al Quran ; 52:2]

فِي رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ (3)

In parchment spread open.
[Al Quran ; 52:3]

وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ (4)

And (by) the frequented house.
[Al Quran ; 52:4]

وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ (5)

And (by) the raised ceiling.
[Al Quran ; 52:5]

وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ (6)

And (by) the sea filled with fire.
[Al Quran ; 52:6]

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ (7)

Indeed, the torture of your Lord will occur.
[Al Quran ; 52:7]

مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ (8)

Of it there is no defender.
[Al Quran ; 52:8]

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا (9)

The day the heaven will be disturbed with disturbance.
[Al Quran ; 52:9]

وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا (10)

And the mountains will pass on departing.
[Al Quran ; 52:10]

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (11)

So woe on that day to the deniers.
[Al Quran ; 52:11]

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ (12)

Who are in discourse playing.
[Al Quran ; 52:12]

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا (13)

The day they will be thrust into hell with a thrust.
[Al Quran ; 52:13]

هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ (14)

This is the fire which you used to deny.
[Al Quran ; 52:14]

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا أَمْ أَنْتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ (15)

So is it magic, or do you not see?
[Al Quran ; 52:15]

اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (16)

Reach it, then be patient or do not be patient, it will be the same for you. You are only being rewarded for what you used to do.
[Al Quran ; 52:16]

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ (17)

Indeed, the pious will be in gardens and pleasure.
[Al Quran ; 52:17]

فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ (18)

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the torture of the hellfire.
[Al Quran ; 52:18]

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (19)

Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do.
[Al Quran ; 52:19]

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ (20)

Reclining on beds lined in rows. And We will marry them off to beautiful ones.
[Al Quran ; 52:20]

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُمْ مِنْ عَمَلِهِمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ (21)

And those who have believed and their descendants have followed them in faith, We will unite with them their descendants, and We will not deprive their deeds of anything. Every person is, for what he earned, retained.
[Al Quran ; 52:21]

وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ (22)

And We supplied them with fruit and meat of what they desire.
[Al Quran ; 52:22]

يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ (23)

They exchange with one another therein a cup wherein no vain talk nor sin.
[Al Quran ; 52:23]

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَكْنُونٌ (24)

And there will circulate among them boys for (serving) them, as if they were well-kept pearls.
[Al Quran ; 52:24]

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ (25)

And they will approach one another, questioning each other.
[Al Quran ; 52:25]

قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ (26)

They will say: Indeed, we were previously among our families humble (to Allah).
[Al Quran ; 52:26]

فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ (27)

So Allah has conferred favour upon us and protected us from the torture of the scorching fire.
[Al Quran ; 52:27]

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ (28)

Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 52:28]

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ (29)

So remind, for you are not, by the favours of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
[Al Quran ; 52:29]

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ (30)

Or do they say: A poet for whom we wait the misfortune of time?
[Al Quran ; 52:30]

Al-Tur (Mount Tur)

Translation

Verses 31-49

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ (31)

Say: Wait, for indeed, I am with you among those who wait.
[Al Quran ; 52:31]

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُمْ بِهَٰذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ (32)

Or do their dreams command them to this? Or are they tyrant people?
[Al Quran ; 52:32]

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ (33)

Or do they say: He has made it up? Rather, they do not believe.
[Al Quran ; 52:33]

فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِثْلِهِ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ (34)

Then let them bring a saying like it, if they should be truthful.
[Al Quran ; 52:34]

أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ (35)

Or were they created by nothing? Or were they the creators?
[Al Quran ; 52:35]

أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُوقِنُونَ (36)

Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
[Al Quran ; 52:36]

أَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ (37)

Or do they have the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the controllers?
[Al Quran ; 52:37]

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ (38)

Or do they have a ladder upon which they listen? Then let their listener come with an obvious authority.
[Al Quran ; 52:38]

أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ (39)

Or for Him are daughters while for you are sons?
[Al Quran ; 52:39]

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ (40)

Or do you ask them for a reward, so they are by debts heavily burdened?
[Al Quran ; 52:40]

أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ (41)

Or have they (known) the unseen, so they write (it) down?
[Al Quran ; 52:41]

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ (42)

Or do they want a plan? And those who have disbelieved are planning for themselves.
[Al Quran ; 52:42]

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ (43)

Or do they have a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they associate (with Him).
[Al Quran ; 52:43]

وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَرْكُومٌ (44)

And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling down, they would say: Piled up clouds.
[Al Quran ; 52:44]

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ (45)

So leave them until they meet their day in which they will be shocked.
[Al Quran ; 52:45]

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ (46)

The day their plan will not avail them from anything, nor will they be helped.
[Al Quran ; 52:46]

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (47)

And indeed, for those who have done injustice is a torture other than that, but most of them do not know.
[Al Quran ; 52:47]

وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ (48)

And be patient for the judgment of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes, and glorify with praise of your Lord when you arise.
[Al Quran ; 52:48]

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ (49)

And in a part of the night, glorify Him, and after the setting of the stars.
[Al Quran ; 52:49]
