Translation

Verses 1-30


بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

حم (1)

Ha Meem.
[Al Quran ; 44:1]

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ (2)

And by the obvious book.
[Al Quran ; 44:2]

إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ (3)

Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night; indeed, We were to warn (you).
[Al Quran ; 44:3]

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ (4)

Therein (on that night) is made distinct every precise matter.
[Al Quran ; 44:4]

أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ (5)

A matter from Us; indeed, We were to send (messengers).
[Al Quran ; 44:5]

رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ (6)

A mercy from your Lord; indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
[Al Quran ; 44:6]

رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ (7)

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be certain.
[Al Quran ; 44:7]

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ (8)

There is no god except Him; He gives life and causes death. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your former fathers.
[Al Quran ; 44:8]

بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ (9)

Rather they are in doubt, playing.
[Al Quran ; 44:9]

فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ (10)

So watch for a day when the sky will bring an obvious smoke.
[Al Quran ; 44:10]

يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (11)

It will cover the people; this is a painful torture.
[Al Quran ; 44:11]

رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ (12)

Our Lord! Remove from us the torture; indeed, we are believers.
[Al Quran ; 44:12]

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ (13)

How will there be for them a reminder? And there came to them an obvious messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:13]

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ (14)

Moreover, they turned away from him and said: He was taught, (and he is) a madman
[Al Quran ; 44:14]

إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ (15)

Indeed, We will remove the torture a little. Indeed, you will return.
[Al Quran ; 44:15]

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ (16)

The day We will assault with a great assault; indeed, We are to take retribution.
[Al Quran ; 44:16]

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ (17)

And We have certainly tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:17]

أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ (18)

(Saying), deliver to me the servants of Allah; indeed, I am to you an honest messenger.
[Al Quran ; 44:18]

وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ (19)

(And saying), and be not arrogant with Allah; indeed, I come to you with an obvious authority.
[Al Quran ; 44:19]

وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ (20)

And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me.
[Al Quran ; 44:20]

وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ (21)

And if you do not believe me then leave me.
[Al Quran ; 44:21]

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ (22)

And he called upon his Lord that these were a criminal people.
[Al Quran ; 44:22]

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ (23)

(Allah said): Then walk with my servants by night; indeed, you are to be pursued.
[Al Quran ; 44:23]

وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ (24)

And leave the sea divided; indeed, they are soldiers to be drowned.
[Al Quran ; 44:24]

كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (25)

How many they have left of gardens and springs.
[Al Quran ; 44:25]

وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ (26)

And vegetations and a noble position.
[Al Quran ; 44:26]

وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ (27)

And a favour wherein they were rejoicing.
[Al Quran ; 44:27]

كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ (28)

Thus; and We caused to inherit it another people.
[Al Quran ; 44:28]

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ (29)

And the heaven and the earth did not cry for them, nor were they reprieved.
[Al Quran ; 44:29]

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ (30

And We have certainly saved the children of Israel from the humiliating torture.
[Al Quran ; 44:30]

Al-Dukhan (The Smoke)


Translation

Verses 31-59


مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ (31)

From Firon; indeed, he was arrogant from among the extravagant.
[Al Quran ; 44:31]

وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ (32)

And We certainly chose them by knowledge over the worlds.
[Al Quran ; 44:32]

وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُبِينٌ (33)

And We gave them of the signs that in which there was an obvious trial.
[Al Quran ; 44:33]

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ (34)

Indeed, these are saying:
[Al Quran ; 44:34]

إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ (35)

It is only our first death, and we will not be resurrected.
[Al Quran ; 44:35]

فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (36)

So bring our fathers, if you should be truthful.
[Al Quran ; 44:36]

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ (37)

Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them; indeed, they were criminals.
[Al Quran ; 44:37]

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ (38)

And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in play.
[Al Quran ; 44:38]

مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ (39)

We did not create both of them except in truth, but most of them do not know.
[Al Quran ; 44:39]

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (40)

Indeed, the day of separation is their appointment for them all.
[Al Quran ; 44:40]

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ (41)

The day no guardian will not avail another a thing, nor will they be helped.
[Al Quran ; 44:41]

إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (42)

Except those whom Allah would grant mercy; indeed, He is the Mighty, the Merciful.
[Al Quran ; 44:42]

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ (43)

Indeed, the tree of Zaqqum.
[Al Quran ; 44:43]

طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ (44)

Is the food of the sinful.
[Al Quran ; 44:44]

كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ (45)

Like molten brass boiling in their bellies.
[Al Quran ; 44:45]

كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ (46)

Like the boiling of hot water.
[Al Quran ; 44:46]

خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ (47)

Seize him and drag him into the midst of the hellfire.
[Al Quran ; 44:47]

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ (48)

And pour over his head from the torture of hot water.
[Al Quran ; 44:48]

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ (49)

Taste! Indeed, you are the mighty, the noble.
[Al Quran ; 44:49]

إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ (50)

Indeed, this is what you used to dispute.
[Al Quran ; 44:50]
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ (51)

Indeed, the pious will be in a secure position.
[Al Quran ; 44:51]

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (52)

Within gardens and springs.
[Al Quran ; 44:52]

يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ (53)

Wearing of fine silk and brocade, facing each other.
[Al Quran ; 44:53]

كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ (54)

Thus, and We will marry them off to Hoor Ain.
[Al Quran ; 44:54]

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ (55)

They will be invited therein for every fruit, in security.
[Al Quran ; 44:55]

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ (56)

They will not taste therein death except the first death, and He will protect them from the torture of the hellfire.
[Al Quran ; 44:56]

فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ (57)

A grace from your Lord; that is the great attainment.
[Al Quran ; 44:57]

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ (58)

And indeed, We have made it easy in your tongue that perhaps they will remember.
[Al Quran ; 44:58]

فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُرْتَقِبُونَ (59)

So watch; indeed they are watching.
[Al Quran ; 44:59]
